i have been trying to play q3 online but when i connect to a server i get disconnected as soon as everything loads.
i'm guessing this is a 'pure' server issue. is my version 'impure' because i patched it to work under OS X? i havent tried under OS 9. (dont wanna reboot just to play q3). however i was able to connect to my friends pc when he created an 'impure' server.
any ideas, suggestions anyone?

I'm able to connect to pure servers in OSX without any problems. I'm running in OSX so that I can enable dual processor support (not possible in OS9).
Some suggestions I can think of - did you running the latest v1.31.b5? Also, you might want to consider renaming your q3config.cfg. Quake3 will generate a fresh configuration automatically the next time you run it. If that doesn't work you can always delete the new config and rename the old one........joe

hey
i'm not sure if i'm running the beta5 patch. it certainly is 1.31 tho. does the console show 1.31b5 or just 1.31 after you install the beta5 patch?
could you please send me the b5 patch, cause the download link at macgamefiles wont work.
thanks

I just checked - the console only shows v1.31 and not the beta. Uploading a 1.5MB patch with my lame 21.6Kbps dialup isn't a good idea. If macgamefiles is still down you could try id's ftp site. I don't remember the address offhand so you'll have to hunt around their homepage a bit.......joe

The problem for those servers is that you need to turn autodownload on, as you don't have a file that the server is running but your computer thinks that's OK and tries to load it. Often, you can d/l it from the server withou auto-download. Other times, they don't let you.

The binary switch for automatic downloading in the console is "cl_allowdownload". Set it to "1" for on, or set it to "0" for off.
