Ahhh, this is the way it should be! Playing Deimos Rising native on Mac OS X, while simultaneously grooving to iTune's hypnotic display, chatting via the AIM-clone Adium, and work waiting patiently in the background, ready for you when your ship detonates in a translucent fireball.

Bliss.

BASTARD!!!!!!!!

I ran off to download and play, but NOOOOOO it has to be the classic version. Which plays fine BTW. But native games, in window mode like that is so sweet. Starcraft is more fun while watching a DVD at the same time

do you need any play testers?

So, when will this be released? and when is EV coming out? The screen shots look sweet!

That looks damn freaking sweet... reminds me of Hybris. I love that game... first game I ever got; it was for my Amiga 500. Ahh, nostalgia...

You must have downloaded "Mars Rising" -- Deimos Rising is the sequel to that game, and hasn't been released yet. It should be out in a week or so, though.

Stay tuned -- and yes, it will ship as both Mac OS X and Mac OS 8/9 native...

Just black borders -- the game is meant to emulate the old-style stand up arcade games, where the displays were vertically oriented, not horizontally oriented.

Deimos Rising is a blast -- some of our beta testers have actually developed callouses on their trigger fingers, and worn keyboards from playing it during the beta test.

That you can keep it running in a window under Mac OS X, waiting patiently for when you have some spare time between your work makes it all the more dangerous.

Mr. Welch,

With all due respect, aren't you suppose to be diligently working on Escape Velocity: Nova instead of playing video games? Work before play.

Sincerely,
Archangel

You forgot to mention "listening to Fugazi" !!! That's what ties it all together and makes it that much more cool

Hahaha, Fugazi rules, I'm listening to them right now.

I went down to the pub/ this morning, and they were handing out DRinks even for Anonymous addicts of MR, like me. Have been playing it since.

IMG reported that Deimos Rising would be released today. Where the heck is it?

Was Moki too busy playing instead of porting? Or was IMG just a bit trigger happy?

I love the option of being able to play in a window on X. Quite cool. But I'd also like it to be an option; will we be able to play full-screen in X? (the IMG preview seemed to imply that it wasn't possible).
The 4 o'clock train will be a bus.
It will depart at 20 minutes to 5.

Yeah, full screen is possible. It's a fun game. I think I might be getting it. It's hard, but it seems like it shouldn't be because there are fewer things you have to deal with.

My question is what about add-ons? Will see expansion pack type things that will extend the game? If this will happen, I probably will be getting it.

Yes, you can play full screen or "in a window"

As for the issue of add-ons, it is possible there will be a level pak -- but we haven't decided yet.

If you played Deimos from start to finish without losing a single life, it would take you 74 minutes of straight keyboard-mashing to beat it -- a near impossibility. Odds are quite good that Deimos will be defeating *you* for quite some time to come.

How do I switch to window mode? I can't seem to do this with cmd-tab like in most apps.

Your site is slower then OS X public beta, finally got into the main page and clicked on Deimos Rising only to be thwarted there. The tabs and ad at the top of the page have loaded but nothing more (okay, main and action are there but that is where it stops)

as always, ambrosia is screwed up by people, which is a good thing, if you think about it. Try it somewhat later or again :-)

If you are having trouble downloading Deimos Rising, you might also want to try the MacGameFiles.com mirror here:
