I've been lurking here for a little while and remember seeing a thread begging for Counter Strike for the Mac. While it'd be nice if Sierra would pull their heads out of their butts, it just isn't going to happen. Fortunately, we have something available to us that is even better than Half Life/Counter Strike. And yes, I have played both.
Probably the Unreal Tournament MOD is a military-based total conversion called Infiltration. A lot of people are switching over from Tactical Ops and Counter Strike to play this MOD because it's simply the most realistic military FPS out there. The latest version is 2.85.2 and supports online play. Best of all, it's free (if you own UT).
The screenshots on the web site are a bit dated, but they should show you some promise. It's a hefty download, but if you're looking for a great alternative to Counter Strike and a strong (not wanky either) community, check out Infiltration.
P.S. The reason I am posting this is because I', surprised at the lack of support the Mac community is showing for it. This is a great game that is fully supported for Macs even though the UT community is mainly PC users and it's a shame that it's not getting the attention it deserves. I've tried doing my part by sending news updates to the Mac sites, but none of them have posted about it for whatever reason.

Well, in my neck of the woods, the reason nobody (and I mean nobody) is switching to Tactical Ops is because it sucks in terms of gameplay.
It looks 18 times more super-sexy, but the hostages are morons and the physics simply do not jive with the UT engine - not to mention the maps are a mixed bag at best.
I'm sorry, but I can only see this as "We don't have CounterStrike, so Tactical Ops MUST be better.". It's not.
Perhaps someday, but not today...

Last time I tried Infiltration it sucked. . .granted, that was over 9 months ago. Maybe I'll give it another whirl just for you, Acrappa.

Give Strike Force a go, awesome TC for UT With version 1.60 coming out very soon it's sure to be good, not to say 1.55 wasn't but this new version looks to be even better...

I haven't tried out the latest Infiltration as yet- haven't had time to try it out even though I've got it sitting in my downloads folder! But it looks good nonetheless!
Frankly CS is just overrated to me- I'm not saying I don't like it, it's good and all, but I just don't think you have to "die" just 'cuz it's not on the Mac...I've got both Mac and PC so I'm not complaining which games come out on which platform, but for those who use Macs, give SF and Infiltration a try!
