i have been playing UT (RAVE) and Oni (OpenGL) for a few weeks now and all was fine until a few days ago. suddenly neither game will work. they launch and get to the start of the game and then the whole screen goes blank. the game is still going on, i can hear the music but the screen is black. i was running OS 9.1 and have the standard Rage 128 card shipped in a G4 tower. i hadn't installed any new software, so i don't know why it would suddenly die.

i have spent the better part of this evening initializing my drive and doing an OS Restore to 9.0.4 (still didn't work). upgraded back to 9.1 and installed OpenGL 1.2.1 (has ATI drivers in it). still nothing works. i have zapped the PRAM countless times and rebuilt the desktop more than anyone should in a lifetime. HELP!!

i can't play Oni at all and UT sucks in software render mode. could this be a hardware issue or just some whack conflict (by the way, i have this machine running, for the most part, the ATI drivers, Open Transport, OpenGL, and QuickDraw RAVE, everything else has been disabled. BAH!

i would appreciate any help that would get me back to where i was last week - happy.

Did your video card go kaput? I'm assuming you have all of the latest drivers installed and activated. If that's the case, and you haven't installed any new software, then my guess is your card is fried or something. Did you have any type of power surge? Dunno really. . .hope you can fix it though.
