I just installed OS X in my G4 dual 500 with 196 ram and quake 3 seems fine while running classic in X the only thing that seems low is the macine gun it shoots about two times a second compared to about five to seven its kink of funny. Hows your experiance? FPS?

the reason for that, i think, is because of the way OS X manages its memory/sound/RAM.
i tried quake3 on the public beta, and it was alright, except for what you just said.
But online play was bad. The graph that i got was like a mountain range, unlike the plateau-like graph that i get under os 9.(same connection/same server)

If u still have os 9 installed somewhere, try playing it with virtual memory on and then VM off. What i noticed in the public beta was that q3 plays like under os 9 with VM off.

try that patch, im not sure if it works for the final version of X, but theres no reason it shouldnt.
