I bought the game yesterday and had troubles with the installer . It took my evening to figure out how to make it work and I thought befor anyone else has the same problems I post it here:

If you have installed 9.2.2 you must install the game like the OS X version but with the OS 9 installer. That means: Run the minimum installation and then insert the cds 2-4 and run the installers there, choosing the same installation on all cds (recommend or maximum).

If you don't do that, the installer will crash after the first cd, leaving the game uncomplished.
Dunno why, but that way it works.

BTW, great game!

Yeah, I had to do the exact same thing. Kind of a pain in the a$$ eh?

Oh yeah, and Vampire: The Masquerade has the same exact installation problem.

One thing to do when installing BG2 (and maybe Vampire) is to open up extensions manager and set your config to Mac OS 9.x.x All. There's an extensions conflict with certain files (one of the Iomega ones, and some other one I've never heard of).
