I'm looking to increase the number of multiplayer games in my software stable, and was wondering if folks had suggestions for what to get next. I've got Q II and it's okay, but I'm really more a fan of the CIvilization/Risk/Age of Empires genre of games (all 3 I have..) What should I get next & why?

First, get Starcraft w/ the expansion pack, Broodwar. I can't believe you don't have this game. It's an excellent excellent game. Very strong online community, very well balanced game, very cheap (both for <$25), tons of fun. Get this one first!
Have you tried any of the Master of Orion games? I doubt you can find MOO1 anymore, besides its not multiplayer. MOO2 is a pretty decent game and you should be able to find it for fairly cheap now. I've never played it in mulitplayer mode, but I would very much like to. I've never found a partner. It's a turn-based strategy game.
You can also get the original Command and Conquer if you look hard enough. That's a classic.
Check out the new RTS Majesty. There is a demo for it that you can get at www.macgamefiles.com .
Warcraft II as well can be had for way cheap.
There is a plethora of other titles in the FPS and RPG genres, really the only limit is what your machine is capable of. If it can handle it I would highly recommend UT for an FPS and D2 for RPG.
That's all I can think of now, I'm sure others have many more good suggestions.

You MUST get SMAC and SMACX
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire add-on pack.
I "think" it's supposed to be Civilization III, but seems to have beter playability.
My wife and I love playing Alien Crossfire network games on our iBook's.
Game play is probably similar, but from what I've read it is not as tedious. You can set the "Governor" of a city to manage it automatically.
Get them both now! Best price is at amazon.com or at outpost.com.

Archangel,
I'm intrigued by your suggestion, but I noticed that gameranger doesn't support Starcraft. Where can a mac gamer play this multi-player game?
Thanks!

Starcraft is supported by Blizzard's Battle.net. So, you can't pirate the game if you want to play multiplayer (unless it's on a LAN). Through BNET you can connect to anybody else regardless of platform and there are literally thousands of people playing the game, so there is ALWAYS games going.
