I'm surprised no one's successfully compiling this info. xlr8yourmac's DB on this topic is empty.

What are people's impressions of various games under OS X? Here are some of my observations. I've got a Dual 500 with 320MB RAM and a Radeon card.

- UT runs, barely. Not playable in any real sense.
- Diablo II runs, but has wierd gfx artifacts and subpar performance. Battle.net isn't playable.
- Civ:CTP won't load. Black screen.
- Oni runs, but only in 640X480 mode, and is pretty choppy. I'm really surprised by this, since it's a Carbon app.

What experiences are y'all having?

Oni is choppy??? I have a G4 DP 450/448ram/rage128 and it plays fine. Except that it does not like my intellimouse. I think it is some other peoblem...not the app.

Well lets see what I've tried. Q3 is the best although the weapons seem to sound slower the game play is just as fast. Star trek EF is about the same ( this one was always a little pokey on the net ). By the way these are being run at 1024 x 768 at high rez. Unreal Tournament........well here's where it gets a little too slow ( if that girl hadn't been just standing there I would have never hit her ). That ones a little choppy. Probably due to Rave support. Q2 havn't tried yet but I imagine it runs fine. That's about it for now but I was surprised the Classic enviroment did so well. Can't wait until these are native though.

PS. Haven't had the courage to try Deus Ex yet. My system G4 450/ Radeon 384 mgs of Ram.

I am not surprised that these games are so crappy in x because you are running two systems and one game, oni should be okay though, when a games comes out secialy fo X then you will see the full potential.

Just out of interest, has anyone tried running UT in OpenGL mode to see what happens? I know this was buggy as hell under OS9, but since there's hardly and RAVE support under classic (from what I hear) it might be worth a try. I'd try it myself if I could find the damn instructions on how to...!

Starcraft runs fine even on battle.net, but I lost the second mouse button. I think that can be fixed though.

Hmmm.... maybe there's something weird with my config, because I'd been expecting Oni to run like a champ. I actually gave the game a bit more of a workout and found it kept dropping back to that same black screen I get when I try to run Civ:CTP.

I think it has to do with the resolution switching, because I'm running 1152 X 870, and Oni under OS X will only let me run 640 X 480, and even then it doesn't switch the res, but just only occupies that much space on my screen. Tried running difference resolutions, no dice. Anyone else having this problem?

Uh, because hardware rendering isn't enabled or doesn't work under OS X maybe?

Nah, Oni runs just as well as it does under OS X as it does under 9.0.4 on my DP450/128MB/Radeon.

Of course, in Classic, well... Diablo II is S-L-O-W, UT is slow...
Hoping and praying for improvements in OS X 10.1
