First of all, where do I get the OSX patch for Quake 3? Does the patch simply carbonize Quake? Also, does it run better or worse than under OS9? I have a G4 400 with 256mb RAM and Radeon. Thanks

You can get the Quake 3 Cocoa patch at http://www.omnigroup.com/ftp/pub/sof...uake3-1.17.sit My personal experience was that ran at about fifty percent of the speed of my Classic version, but I would encourage you to give it a try because my understanding is that I am in the minority; most people experience a speed-up. This is a stand-alone application, as well; it's not a patch to simply Carbonize Q3, it is actually a Cocoa application.

There are a few steps you will have to take to shut the sound off, however, as this app is meant for the OS X PB and will not run properly under X Final. It just involves some simple editing of the q3config.cfg file. Look it up in these forums if you haven't run across the instructions before.

And please, feel free to post your results.

Blizzard.

So I added seta s_initsound "0" to my config file, but the omniquake still won't start. It changes the monitor settings "out of range" then crashes.

I've been having problems with the DDC part of my radeon, but quake under 9.1 is fine (understanding, of course, that the executables are different).

Anyone else having this problem?

Aaron
