Cyborg 3D Gold Problems?

I just got a new cyborg 3-D Gold and It doesn't seem to work with any of the games I tried out (fa-18 and X-wing, yeah it's ancient but I want to play it). The system profiler is recognizing the joystick, but it just won't respond in the games. Running 9.1 on a wallstreet powerbook with a macally usb card, all drivers are up to date, etc. Is it possible that the stick is bad, are the games just not compatible, or am I just doing something stupid? Any idea if tie fighter will work? any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Hammett
