Okay, my Intellimousse keeps cutting out, the cursor will freeze (although my iMac as a whole is fine) and the Red optical light thing underneath will go out, sometimes if i move the mouse around for a bit it will start working again, but the rest of the time it will continualy freeze and then "thaw" and repeat these process constantly, at the worse the mose will freeze and not thaw, so I have to restart my iMac.
This behaviour happens in the finder (where it is reslly annoying) and in games where it forces me to restart whatever game, becuase for some reason if the Intellimouse cuts out in agame it will NEVER thaw again while in the game, so I have to force quit out of the game (loosing any save games etc) but nine times out of ten when I do this the mouse will reset it's self, the little red light will come back on and everything will be fine, unttil I launch a game again and the same thing will happen in 5-10 minutes max.
Un/replugging the mouse does nothing, but holding the intellmouse upside down will sometimes make the red optics come back on, but only while the mouse is upside down??????
Also tugging on the USB cord from the mouse will make the red optics flash while the cable is tugged, and pressing buttons on the mouse has the same effect.
I've posted about this prob before, but the prob just went away after a little tugging in the USB cord, a month or so later it's come back with a vengeance and WILL NOT BUGGER OFF!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
P.S I've just got the use of an Indigio iMac and have been playing all my games on it (usualy instead of working of easter as I know I should be!) I've got 320MB of Ram and graphically the games are great compared to the Rage pro 6MB (the shame ) in my Rev C iMac, but....................
This stupid bloody fault is ruining my smooth nice graphics experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the computers only been loaned to me for the next 2 weeks) so any prompt helpfull reaplys would, as always, be really appreciated.
P.S I've tried my puck mouse and an apple optical mouse and they don't seem to have this prob at all, I hate Microshite!!!!!!!!
Jeeze, I went off on one there...

It seems a common problem with Microsoft's Intellimice is that the cord connecting the mouse to the keyboard will become detached just inside the mouse itself. A number of my friends have had this occur to them, and the only solution is to return the mouse to the store and either get a new one or get a different mouse (which is the route they all invariably chose to take, as the problem seems to be inherent in the design). Now, as to whether MS has actually fixed this problem, I don't know...but it sounds like the problems you are describing fit the symptoms of a detached mouse cord to a tee.

The company that makes the Razer Boomslang is having financial trouble, and product support has suffered as a result. Consequently, I would recommend against buying an RB.

You might want to check out the following site for more info on the above: http://www.xsreality.com

I've heard nice things about Logitech optical mice. It might be worth giving one of them a shot.
