Look under the Tools menu item. One of the three options there turns on a FPS count. I ecan't remember exactly what the option is called... probably something like timedemo or FPS count.

I have checked the FPS in TacOps under X and the rates are insanely high! I get around 75 FPS while running in X and about 40-45 under 9. It's way choppy under X also.

So you get higher FPS in X but it's choppier...? Whoa. Well that sucks.

My gaming setup took a turn for the worse. Changed the videocard to a GeForce2 MX from GeForce3 in my Cube due to the loud fan and changed the screen to a Apple 17" Studio LCD display with native resolution of 1280x1024. LCD's work like **** w/games in non-native resolutions and the GeForce2 MX chokes at 1280X1024.

Simple: While in the game, press tab. This should bring up a '>' in the top left hand side of the screen, meaning that you can type commands into the console. Then type 'stat fps' (without the quotes, of course) to get an fps count on the bottom of your screen.
Also, try typing 'stat hardware' for statistics of the performance of your hardware (well, what else).
