I have V 1.4.1 of D3 but I cannot get any internet play at all.
If I click on the Multiplayer option in the main menu, I get two choices, Parallax Online (with whom I have registered & activated an account and TCP/IP.
If I select Parallax Online then the menu/dialouge box closes & I am back at the Main menu screen, i.e. nothing happens, & if I select TCP/IP under the multiplayer menu than I get a message saying my compute is not set up for TCP/IP, but these computer/extension/TCP/IP settings are exactly the same as the ones as I use to play UT & Q3A, with no probs what so ever. I have tried connecting & not connecting to the net before opening the game, I can player single player games fine, but the MP just doesn't seem to work at all.
What's going on?

You may want to try the forums at Mac.Descent3.Net where you'll definitely find some Mac Descent 3 players who might be able to help you out.

i can give you all you need to know. You can play online via tcp-ip right now with both pc's and macs. The current patch you can veiw the games in pxo but as soon as you join any game it will freeze. Using shiva's world froze my game the same as all the pc'ers games and the mac version doesn't veiw custom textures. Also rooms look different than pc. The worst news of all a pc can slide around you faster than you can rotate this last statement is in my experience so take it with a grain of salt. But heres the evedence, i played descent 2 with the same person as d3 (pc'er) all close games in d2 but then a couple of nights ago when we played d3 the final score 24 to 4 him and that is better than the time before. so i think a patch or two is still in order

I think a lot of people hate punctuation, too, but it's really a necessary evil if you'd like people to easily comprehend what you're writing. :-)

Right, things looked really promising to begin with after following this link.
I managed to get past my initial probs simply by connecting to the net before starting the game, but since overcoming my initial prob I have struck many more, things are just getting worse & worse, below is a transcription of an email I have sent to the Mac D3 BB (I am unable to make a post to the Mac D3 BB as you will find if you read the rest of this post) about the probs I am having, A; Posting to there board, B; With using logging in to the PXO gaming service in D3 C; With contacting Parallax themselves.

Email to Mac D3 BB-
"Ok I am unable to make a post even though I have registered for your BB.
I just get a message saying there is no one registered with that user name, but if I try to set up an account with that username I get a message saying that username is in use + I was able to register for this service in the first place, with this user name!?! W
Which leads me to believe that this user name has not been registered by someone else, but by me, but for some freakin reason I'm not allowed to use it!
I have tried to check my username & password on your site but whenever I've entered my email addressee to do this, I just get error messages from your server, & receive no email from you with my user name/password.
When I first registered as a member of your BB I did not receive (& still haven't) an email containing a password so I have been using a standard password that I use for accounts of this sort, but your server has never even accepted my username so the password hasn't become an issue, yet.
This is all very spooky because the post I want to make to your BB is about me having very similar probs with D3 PXO's service, I have included my post below, just in case you can help me with this as well.
Thanx in advance.

Original intended post Mac D3 BB-
I cannot get past the Login menu for Parallax Online in D3.
I am asked for my login & password which I enter (I have opened an account with PXO, whom I have emailed about this prob 3 times, but have never received a reply from) there is a short pause while my details are checked, & I then get a message asking me to enter my CORRECT login & password!
I have checked my details on the PXO site (verification by automatic email) and they are correct, which also leads me to believe that I am properly logged as a user of this service (the only other thing I can think off which might be preventing me from logging in properly).
I have also "manually" activated the account as well, just in case, but to no avail.
I only have one email address & PXO will only allow me one PXO account per email address, my current email address being in use (with the account I cannot use!), but the PXO account login that this email address is synonymous with is unusable!
Help!!
P.S
When I originally opened the PXO account I think I was supposed to receive a confirmation email to let me know that my account had been properly setup (although I am not certain about this) I never received such an email."

If anyone can offer any help with any of this, it might just save my sanity. + = roders!
