Howdy,

I've recently bought Deus Ex, Micro$oft Natural Keyboard Pro and Micro$oft IntelliExplorer mouse - I have had the game 2 days now and can't play it because the mouse freezes as soon as the game starts. I've tried configuring the mouse and all is fine and working whilst I am on that input device screen - as soon as I go back to the game the damned thing freezes again (as a large mouse in the top left hand of the screen). I've tried updating Deus Ex to 1.01 and trying to find the latest drivers - Apple hasn't released an International version of Input Sprokets and the American version won't load cause it knows it isn't North of the Equator.

I have a 4 month old G4 with 128M RAM. Your assistance would be most appreciated.

cheers

Simon

p.s. I know I can reassign the mouse clicks to some other button but it sort of defeats the purpose.

I had the same problem.

Open the Intellipoint control panel under the apple menu.
Click on Add and pick deus ex app.
Click on the box that says "Disable IntelliPoint features for the selected application"
Start deus ex back up and you're ready to go.

On the same subject sorta, does anyone know how to program the side 2 buttons on the intellimouse? I don't use USB overdrive, so maybe that would work?

Ok posters time to let them have it. MacNN Staff It's our duty to let MacNN know we hate intelliTXT!

the intellemouse drivers are crap! go for usb overdrive, it's definitely worth it, with the new input sprockets, one can even configure the wheel in the game, it's great.

You can get just about anything from www.versiontracker.com . They have everything for the mac and then some. USB overdrive is definitely the way to go to configure your mouse for DX or UT or any other game that needs multiple buttons (also the upcoming Heavy Metal).
Throw away the Intellipoint stuff and just install USB overdrive, restart and start up a game. It should just recognize the buttons when you are configuring them in the controls. It says like "Joy4" or "joy3", or whatever depending on what buttons you press, like the thumb buttons or the wheel. The only thing you CAN'T do is use the scroll feature, like to cycle weapons, but you can use it as a button to click, like for zoom or something.
Good Luck

in fact, you can use the scroll wheel to cycle weapons, Deus Ex, Unreal Tourney, Unreal, any that support input sprockets. You must have the latest input sprockets available to you, again, you get download those from www.versiontracker.com
