Hi,
Just wondering, I haven't heard anything for ages on new or updated flight sims for the mac. Anyone know of any, or any that are under development??
I play a lot of Hornet Korea and Falcon 4 but ain't found any really worth a go since then. Recommendations?

There's also Fly! (I'd get the 2K version which has a bunch of the updates and good extras and such) and Fighter Squadron: Screamin' Demons Over Europe is currently in development for the Mac at Contraband Entertainment. Fly! 2 is also in development which will be released simultaneously for the the Mac and PC.

Fly! is pretty slow, even on a decent Mac (decent enough for any other game, that is). Unless you have a top-shelf G3 or G4 and video card, don't bother. I'm sticking with Falcon 4.0 for now, despite its many flaws.

If you want to use Fly on your mac, be sure to update it with the latest upgrade (which is mega huge : nearly50 MB) but it is worth installing. Fly runs much, much better with it. I have a G3 blue/white 350 with 128 MB of RAM and Fly runs really great on it. I also added a freeware called "Fly special edition" that redesigns the Sky and the ground : it is spectacular. To answer your question, you will be able to buy Microsoft Flight Simulator 2001 for mac next year

Resurrecting this thread:
I have not been able to obtain a copy of fly2k at all! Even from their own site(s). Outpost and Amazon both report a "ships in 1-2 weeks", and ordering from the links off of Gathering of Developers site itself didn't work. I recently got the "yeah, it's been a month and it's still backordered" email.
bleh.
I guess I'll check out x-plane, but I was wondering if any has purchased fly2k in the past couple of months and where they got it?

If you feel like downloading the demo for X-Plane, i would do so. It is awesome. Large file though.

Checked out X-Plane classic and ordered the full thing (and will play with the demo of the full version when I get home... if i get home...).
I was yearning for a classic slow flight sim (non-combat) and was about to try to find disk images of Flight Simulator II to run in a C64 emulator.
Still might. I still have my manuals for it somewhere.
