Job's threw a fit over a leak at Macworld, yeah right, whatever.
I reckon "ATI" stands for "Absoloute Total Idiots" & thats the polite version of what I came up with.
I was literally just about to order a G4 tower or a Cube (I'm finding it so hard to choose which I should get!) but with no Radeon I just don't know, I might even get a F****n PC & get a higher spec system for less cash.
I'm so pissed off...
P.S Right now it's only the Apple Store UK that the Radeon is temporarily unavailable from; for the moment.

Ah. I feel your pain.
I think you should get a tower if you don't really care about that "brag" factor in things. The multiprocessor Macs will be almost twice as fast running OS X!
The RADEON card you can buy as an aftermarket add-on, but it won't come with the ADC (Apple Display Connector), so...

I just thought I'd pass on the fact that when I called the UK Apple store today they told me the Radeon should be available to order again within the week (they said definetly by a week today), they said the delay was due to a software problem (I wonder if it's got anything to do with ATI's drivers by any chance..?).
Also when the Radeon became available in the US to order it also became available to order in the UK, it's only in the last couple of days that the "Temp" unavailable note has been posted.

Uuummmmm....If you quit complaining and did some research you would see that the hold up on the radeon is Apples Open GL not ATI. According to the ATI source at xlr8yourmac.com the Radeon Drivers have been ready for weeks they are waiting for Apple to release a new version of Open GL.

If you quit complaining at me about the fact that the computer I want/need for Uni has yet again been delayed then you might have time to think about the fact that when Apple announced the availability of the Radeon at Paris Expo do you think they would have done so withought the required Open GL drivers being available , I don't think so.
+ The Radeon will work fine with Apples current implementation of Open GL, an update to Open GL is only needed for some of the advanced transform & lighting effects that the Radeon can provide, which games have to be written specificaly to take advantge of, which, at this time, on the Mac, there are none I believe.
The only software prob that has held up the Radeon is the Drivers, if you believe someone from ATI over Apple, especialy considering ATI's recent track record, & the fact the current version of Open GL will work fine with the Radeon then fair enough; but don't put me down for having a go at ATI, I have spoke up for the Radeon a number of times but the fact is as a supplier to Apple, of drivers, cards etc, ATI are crap, end of story.
Nvidia Nvidia Nvidia Nvidia Nvidia Nvidia all the way.

Hmmmmmm....ever think about the time not so long ago that Apple announced that they were shipping 500mhz G4's?
If memory serves those computers ended up not being ready despite Apple's announcement. If you did what I said and counsulted the source at xlr8yourmac you would know that the radeon drivers are dependant on the Open GL and the lastest drivers would not work with Apple's current Open GL. Get a clue and quit whining.

I ordered my stipped down G4/500 from the Apple UK store just before they became unavalible.I got a confirmation of
shipping yesterday.
There may have been an intial delay due to Open GL.But now they are unavailable because they are literally out of stock..i.e not enough to fill demand.
I suspect like me there has been a lot of peps waiting for this card to come out before they order their G4.Maybe more that Apple anticipated.
Apples been moaning about Mac sites and rumours..what do they expect when no one knows whats going on or tellls the truth. Before the internet they could have given us all a different excuse and none of us would be none the wiser.
But we are all getting different answers from apple store round the world..so stop bullshi$*! us Apple!
