I spent a fair amount of time at the games pavilion today at MWNY. Here are some thoughts/experiences, in no particular order:

- BG II will be out August 13th (Hooray!). They're shooting for Carbon, but it's not a guarantee.
- The Sims will have an update next week for Carbonization. Expect a download on Apple.com. The expansions will follow later on.
- They were demoing Summoner, which I thought looked really great, but it's not Carbonized and doesn't look like it's the kind of game that will run in Classic. A shame, because now I won't buy it.
- Tropico, however, is Carbonized, and was fun to demo, even if it made me feel morally dirty afterward. I picked up a copy.
- Alice looks like trippy fun.
- There were early hands-on demos of Red Faction (barely playable) and Sacrifice (which looked terrific), which are due later this fall. Vampire was there, too, and looked pretty much done; don't know if it's Carbon. Someone was playing a game that looked like Giants- still has a ways to go.
- Freeverse had a cool-looking new game that I can't remember the name of. Very reminiscent of Time Pilot- you're a plane that shoots other planes, you rotate around but always move forward, but looked like another winner.
- There was a large (about 30+ Macs) gaming network, and seeing all these little kids kicking ass at Quake III made me feel really really old.

All in all, it was nice to see a good batch of games in development. I do think, though, that GraphSim should be ashamed of themselves for releasing a game that you can't play under OS X.

Yeah, the games corner was fun!

Alice tooked like lots of trippy fun, and I want it. I've got a question. How do you think it'll run on an iBook? I've got the iceBook, roomie has the previous model. Would it be playable? I don't wanna plunk down money for a game that barely works on my computer. Help?

Any news about Omnigroup's port of Oni? I hardly ever play it anymore because I have boot back into OS 9 (the screen blacks out after a random amount of time if I run it in Classic).

I was looking forward to a Cocoa version. Maybe Omni's biting off more than they chew?
