Okay so I'm having a problem with Diablo 2 and my mouse. It's a kensington two button optical mouse. What the problem is: my right clicking does not activate the other skills I have highlighted. Heck I can't even command+left click to get them to work. This really sucks since I'm starting to get up to a point where spiffy skills would certainly help. I use the USB Overdrive to have all the buttons work. Works find in Starcraft and on the regular desktop, but not in D2 . Any suggestions guys?

It's been a while since I've played Diablo, but don't they have an options screen on first load which lets you specify a two-button mouse? It should also be accessible by holding down the option key upon launch..make sure that the option for 'two-button mouse' is selected. If it is...well, hopefully someone else will have an answer.

Try ditching USB Overdrive and downloading the latest version of Kensington Mouseworks.

Yes, yes, I know quite a few people swear by USB Overdrive, but during the short time I tried it I did nothing but swear AT it.

Diablo II is more than capable of working with the basic Kensington drivers -- it works perfectly with my 4-button Kensington Trackball.

Worst comes to worst, you can always use overdrive to bind the mouse click to an apple-click. Or for other actions (spell up/down), to an unused button (like [ or ] ). Then set that key up in diablo to do what you want.
If you go this route you have to uncheck 'use multi button mouse' on the startup options thingie though

I've tried it with the multibutton option selected through diablo, and that just kept having the game lock up on me when i tried hopping onto battle.net to play online. Also, with overdrive i tried it with the right button bonded to the command key, all this did was to not have the button do anything, no more using it to run or to attack with like the left is supposed to do for me. for now i'll just stick to playing paladins and their auras till i can figure this one out :-/

You can't bind to command click in diablo. You have have to bind to some other key to make it work with OverDrive.

I totally agree with the poster above, though : ditch OverDrive unless it is the only driver available for your mouse. Use the factory drivers and Diablo will work fine.

Unless you play in window mode, though, as multi-button stops working in that mode.

Have you tried deleting your InputSprocket preferences and your Diablo 2 Preferences?

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but...

I have a M$ Intellimouse Explorer, and use 4 of the 5 buttons in D II and the Expansion Pak.
Left and right(also activates potions in belt) are the two attack modes(barbarian) and the left rear shows dropped stuff. Scroll wheel button turns the map on-off.
working my way thru Hell mode...

I do the same thing with the MS Optical Intellimouse...the one with silver buttons, not the silber mouse. And I love it!

The problem could be you are not running one of the latest patches. tHat was the problem I was having. Just update the game and it should work fine.
