Does anyone know of a patch for Unreal Tournament that will bypass the CD check?
I know it sounds bad, but it's not really--I paid for Unreal Tournament. I just would like to avoid using my CD because I have a Powerbook, and using the CD is both inconvenient and it drains battery power.
I know these things exist for the PC, but are there any on the Mac?

Do a full install of unreal tournament, update fo version 436 (visit http://www.westlakeinteractive.com ). Start the game once with the cd in the drive. Next time, UT won't ask you for a cd.

if that doesnt work properly, download the bigger 436 patch called NO DELTA. you won't even need the CD for that upgrade. I got UT Game Of The Year Edition and it wouldnt work with the normal 436 patch, so you have to dl the NO DELTA one.
Also, on InsideMacGames and PlanetUnreal (I believe) there is a very simple way to make the game work without the CD. It only checks for a certain file. So if you make an Image (200-300K), call it Unreal Tournament, and just have that file in the appropraite folder, it will work.
Of course, the easiest is to upgrade to 436 and no CD will be needed

Heres how to make an Unreal Tournament CD Pacifier:
Using shrinkwrap, or disc copy, make a small disk image (about 500k)
inside that, make a folder called "Textures". Copy the "Palettes.utx" file from your UT CD to the textures folder.
now mount this image whenever you want to play
easy!

The latest version of Unreal Tournament (436) does not require a CD as long as you do a full install. I believe the Game of the Year edition is 436.
