Hey yall.
I was wondering if someone could hook me up with the mac dues ex appliction. not any of the files or anything, just the application.
I got the PC version of deus ex on the cheap, and figured i could slap on the mac app to make it run.
or maybe someone could tell if this not possible so i can slap myself in the face for being an idiot.

Ooh, Deus Ex is fun.
It's possible...
but if u do it and it works, the mac porting people won't get any $$ for the sale
Maybe a patch for the game contains the full app file?
Oh.. and if u do get it working... buy another mac game (preferably ported by westlake) with the money you saved

yeah a patch would contain the app, but to use the patch, you have to have something to patch. Get what I mean?
I doubt a patch would work on top of the demo app too.
cuz I have the demo. and im kinda addicted. ive done the first level on realistic armed with a crowbar a few times.

Sorry to say, but this won't work. You're asking a Mac application to use Windows configurations and files, which plain just won't work. That's why it took many months for Aspyr to port the PC game to the Mac. The only games that I am aware of that all you have to do is download a Mac executable are ID's games such as the Quake 1 & 3 and the space game Terminus.

Actually, that could work. On the PC side, there's a Deus Ex demo and an add-on to the demo (which gives you another mission to play). I added the files from the PC add-on to the mac demo and it worked. But I lost support for imput sprockets in the process.
Which leads me to think, why don't you try and use the files from the demo and see if that will work?

It'll work.
Download the Deus Ex demo.
Unless they were real evil, the same trick with Q3A will work with this... even better if it works with UT (haven't tried).
They might have altered the application though...

If it didn't work with UT, chances are it won't with DX... they're based on the same engine and everything. The only real difference between the two are what the data files contain, and the minor parts of the application.
Badly said, I know, but you get what I mean.

Well BLAHHHHH to all of that.
I got Deus Ex running.
PC version of all the files running off the mac DEMO version.
required the pc cd, the mac demo and virtual pc to set it up.
woohoo.
But, now a new question.
Can someone with deus ex check something out for me.
I need to know the correct filename for one of the levels. The name should be:
06_HongKong_WanChai_Underworld.dx or something very similar.
But that has more than 31 characters and so I cant name the file properly.
so can someone check there maps folder in the deus ex folder (on hard drive, not cd) for the correct name??
Thanks a lot dudes.
ps ha ha ha to anyone who said it wouldnt work.

I'm trying to do this the other way around. I've got the legal version of the Mac Deus Ex CD and I wanna play it on my PC (don't laugh, my brother's taking the good mac to college, so I'm stuck with a slow as balls iMac)
Anyway, I tried copying the files from the Mac install and tried using a cracked deusex.exe file i got somewhere.
But when I try and run it, the window.dll doesn't work. I try changing the window.int file to that name, but it sez the file is corrupt.
Any hints?

i was thinking maybe it would recreate them if they were missing.
i dont know though.
