I have had mixed success getting LAN servers to show up in the browser, I typically just enter the IP address..have you tried doing that?

If you have a router/ethernet hub combo, then just punch in each machines DHCP given IP address 192.168.etc.etc.... Since it's switching it all locally in the hub and not using the internet at all you should see LAN speed network performance.
Now if you are using a regular hub... Do the other computers show up to begin with outside of the game, (file sharing on, Appletalk on, set to ethernet) this may not matter in the game itself, but it's a way to make sure the computers are talking to each other to begin with. Heck, look at your hub. When all the computers are on and pluggin into it, are the lights on above the ports? Empty ports or non-functioning cable's should have no light.
As for PC/Mac Lan games, I can't help you there.... Maybe someone else can pitch in 2 cents?

Just did this Sunday, and though I'm not sure how much of this is necessary, this is the simple way we got it to work.
Plug in to the ethernet hub, startup.
Turn on Appletalk.
Go to your TCP/IP control panel, select ethernet and punch in an IP address (we just 100.100.100.01, 100.100.100.02 etc.)
Start up UT, have someone start a game, look in "Find a LAN Game" and the server should appear.
Really that's all we did, and we were at least a little surprised to find that it worked. Now to find Rampant's .ini file for my poor little iBook.

You guys are making this to f00king complicated.
Lan game with PC/Mac (9 or X)
1. Get a Hub (Switch will be fine)
2. Plug all the computers that will be playing into the Hub
3. Make sure that all the computers have an IP address before going further. (Tinker with the Tcp/Ip settings to get the computer to have an address. Both Macintosh and Windows normally attomatically obtain an IP address, well I know that is for sure with the Macintosh side of bussiness)
4. Start UT
5. You should proberly run the Server on the Windows computer, when I have UT Lan games the Macintosh doesn't do very well as a server. It will crash sometimes when the map changes.
6. When you go to Lan games ifyou don't see any of the servers hit f5.
It is that f00king easy!
