I play the hack to Valve's Half Life called Counterstrike on a PC at home and I was wondering if anyone had ported this for either of the Mac OSs yet. I know ther're ports for linux....

Sad story :
http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/...halflife.shtml

But there are cool alternatives.

Mods for Unreal Tournament:
http://www.strikeforcecenter.com/ and http://www.tactical-ops.net/

and for Quake III :
http://www.urbanterror.net/

As for Half- Life sequels, the odds seem better.

We'll never see Half Life on the Mac. It was almost done then it was cancelled and Sierra killed all Mac games not long after. However I agree with the above poster. Urban Terror for Quake 3 is VERY good. I play that one so much now it crazy. Give it a shot and you won't be sorry. If you don't have Quake 3, you should be able to DL the latest point release and Urban Terror and run it. You don't need the full install to play, I've heard. I have the full release so I have verifed it myself.

Interesting coincidence, I live in Oakland, CA as well!!!

I have seen screen shots and read reports of a single-player version of CounterStrike (some new weapons like nade-launchers) maybe that will get ported to Mac....I hope.

I will probably hold off on trying anything new, I love CS and I am about to build a server for it....

Thanks for those links, I guess I do remember hearing about the cancellation of HL from Valve for Mac but I had forgotten...maybe OS X will make it a remote possibility one day.....

The port to Linux, alas, is only the server...not the actual, playable game. So it's not like the Mac is the only platform without
