Hi, I'd like to try out the X-Plane Demo, it seems to be a great flight sim.

However, I have problems getting it running on my Pismo, as it reports my ATI Display Adapter must have less than 6 MB RAM. This is not true. I have ssen screenshots in the Net taken on a TiBook, which has the same graphics adapter. So there must be a solution.

X-Plane Classic hangs up after searching for a joystick. Could there be incompatibility with the trackpad?

Wow, it would be great to fly the same route on the powerbook in the plane when travelling next time. So I could race myself...

I'm running the full version on my Pismo, with 192 RAM and 9.1, with latest OpenGL, without any problems.

But. I bought it just in time for 5.6, which always froze one third into startup. Only after 5.64 did it start working again.

Lets debug this:

What version of X- plane do you have? (5.66 recommended)
Which language version of the OS are you using?
Do you have the lates OpenGL drivers?
Have you tried starting the mac with less extensions?
Do you use an external monitor?

As for classic, X- plane classic seems to have problems on any USB machine.

Lets get you off the ground

All right...

Version of X-Plane: 5.66 DEMO

German OS 9.1

OpenGL is 1.2

No I have not begun with trying reducing the extensions, as I have no idea which ones could be relevant.

Yes, I use an external monitor.

Thank you!

Ahem,

took awhile to get back - sorry.

One major issues that might affect your performance is quite simply the amount of RAM memory you've assigned to X-plane. I remember playing an earlier version, where lack of VRAM could be compensated with adding RAM to the app. (Not that you technically lack VRAM, but.....)

With the advent of 9.2.1 Austin Meyer, the developer of X-plane, just sent out a message that it requires atleast 81 MB to run now.

You might also want to check that there are a few MB's of unused memory available for the system, in case it needs to spontaneously selfexpand (OpenGL etc.)
