UT is pissing me off!

Everytime I play UT in single player mode, it freezes at the "High Speed" map in the assualt level. If I can manage to get the game to quit, my computer is still locked up, with the unreal music still playing. I end up having to kill the power and restart it. It only happens on that one map. Any one have any ideas on this? It's very annoying...

Same problem, same place.
Is there a way to save the levels one has already played on a reinstall?

whoa! you are all talking about the high speed train level? i have had this freeze sooo many times with the same symptons! i contacted and was in email correspondence with their help desk but he keep on offering quite bizzare ideas and was no help at all! so a re-install is the answer? where you all able to keep your saved files or did you also trash them?

It's a known problem that's been around forever. Apparently, it has something to do with the sound. Some things to try:
1. Turn off Music
2. Turn off sound
and if all else fails
3. Switch to software mode just for this level.

What I did was that I just allocated more memory to it (if your playing in 9) because supposedly the game has memory leaks. Though mine seems to freeze after a certain time (some 2hrs) rather than a particular stage.

I'm going to do a reinstall and see if that fixes it. I actually forgot I had posted this until it did it to me again. Very freakin' annoying... Thanksa for the help.

thanks also for the advice.
strangely the re-install didn't help but the playing with the sound down did!
finally after about five months i can finish this game!
does anyone know the reason for this freeze?

There's an issue with the sound on that level. But I don't recall ever seeing it in multiplayer, just singleplayer.
