Given the recent announcements of video cards, systems, and Q3A 1.27h, just thought I'd inject a little humor.
Post your stupid but true framerates - here goes:
Burning Monkey Puzzle Lab: 320 fps - right at the start
Cube, Radeon
Let's hear it, guys and gals.

I can get 250 fps while watching iTunes!
Also, I heard from a guy, who heard from my brother's aunt's boyfriend's boss's friends sister who could get 500 fps on Solitaire! Awesome! Talk about landmark! I bet the PC can't get that.
Woo-hoo

That's pretty damn slow!
Or do you mean 548 frames/second?

Well, I was playing Final Fantasy Seven on Bleem (the PC playstation emulator), under Virtual PC, in the Classic layer of Mac OS X on a Centris 640 and I was getting -35fps. Yep, that's right a negative number. Can anyone think of a way to get it to play faster?

Get Connectix Virtual Game Station for Mac ( www.connectix.com ).
Won't need to worry about emulating within an emulator that's slow as hell to begin with

250 frames per second at 1024 by 768 with texture quality turned down on my 800-megahertz Athlon with a GeForce^2 GTS (with 64 megabytes of DDR memory and 512 megabytes of system RAM).
I get about 400 frames per second at 640 by 480 (with the same configuration), but my monitor is limited to, well, 120 and 170 refreshes per second anyway, respectively.
These benchmarks were done using Rocket Arena 3 map one in an indoor situation. Yes, it's a very popular modification to Quake.

And no, I was not staring at the floor. This is a normal combat situation with about three or four guys on the screen shooting at each other with various weapons.

I also get 2 frames per second at 2048 by 1536 on my PowerBook, which is basically full-screen antialiasing for the deprived. My screen can't handle the resolution, but renders the pixels anyway. I turned everything up for this test.
