I frequent the Apoolyton Civ III site, butI don't want to sign up for yet another forum. I DO know that there are severa l=Civ players here.
Sorry had much time to play recently, too much work. We may have to postpone the MacNN Civ3 TW game until school start .You guys c ould start a game without me, of course.
Questions:
1)How do I stack units to move them? I know I can oly attack one at aimeexcept with armies, but it's anoying to have to move 50 tanks acroos a continent one at a imte.
2) How long is the lag between PC and Mac updates? The latest PC 0ne was releades last HTurdays.,
When are we getting an editor?

Basically, Macsoft did contract Westlake to port the map editor to Mac OS X, but there's been some delays. In the meantime, Westlake has ported all the patches they were required to do, which doesn't include the the most recent one.
A few users have been telling Macsoft that they would rather have the latest Civ3 patches than the map editor. I don't know how likely that is, but it's a possibility. So I suggest you contact Macsoft and politely tell them your feelings on this.

This only works in the updated version (the first update is required, not the most recent).

I hope my politeness of not posting a new thread about CIV3 will be rewarded by many answers
Ok, I am a total newby here..
My problem is that my cities are weak and I loose about every fight.
-How do I get those resources? I build mines, build roads towards them, but it seems like I can't trade anything. I have got roads to other civilisations.
Could someone tell me how a strong city looks like? (units/buildings)
-also, how do I speed up a buildingprocess (like a unit or wonder?) In CIV2 I could spend money on a project to speed up progress, but this is not possible in civ3.

Most of them will no longer work.
There are three types of resources: bonus resources, strategic resources, and luxury resources. The bonuses are just like in Civ2 -- if you "work" that square, you get extra food, shields, or trade. The luxuries make you're people happier. Since you can only use one of each type of luxury, you can trade the extras to other civs.
The strategic resources will only appear on your map if you have the necessary tech. So you won't see oil unless you've already discovered refining. The strategic resource enables you to build certain military units. So a city needs to be connected to an oil resource before it can build tanks. Like the luxury resources, you only use one of each type of strategic resources, and you trade the rest.
The benefits of luxuries and strategic resources apply to individual cities, not to the civ as a whole. So to ensure that your whole civ has access to those resources, you need to connect all your cities together via roads, harbors, or airports. Likewise, if you are connected to a single isolated foreign city, their leader won't trade with you because it'll only affect that one city, not his entire civ.
The only way to speed up production of a wonder is to use a Great Leader, which are somewhat rare. This is my single biggest gripe against Civ III.

Read the manual. Many of the subtelties of Civ III are answered there. INcluding resource use and trade.
It's not complete however - it was n't complete for the 1.0 version. Things are left ouit. Can you trade your only instance of a resourece? No. Can you trade only 1 out of your many instances of a resource to multiple other Civs? No. I have lots of horses, but I can only trade Horses to one civ. UNforunteate.
I think that the movement system is messed up too.
Why does moving into enemy terriotyr slow you to the rate of crossing open land? I understnad that an enemy can temporarily disable rails, but roads? No. Approaching a capitol, you should be able to use the roads.
Timing? Give me a break. It does NOT take years and years to cross open land in the Ancient era. And how does a single unit last out in the field for thousands of years?
Pewrhaps there should be a time limit to a unit's survival outside of a friendly city before you can get reccruity.s.
What about supply lines? Perhaps this can be done with workers - or even better, soldiers.
If a unit of YOURS enters a land tile, that tile becomes yours for, what, two turns or something like that. Maybe five. An army must have contact with a friendly city at all times. If it is broken by a hostile, then a new line must be established within two turns or something oir YOUR FORCES DIE!
Of course, this doesn't applyu to Ancient Era units. They can live off the land.
But everything that requires ammunition or servicing requires a suplly liner.
WHy do nuke subs carry only one nuke? For a great deal of production cost, it's almost uselss./
There should be a MAD situation. If a n enemy attacks with a nuke, automatically attack with a nuke on his largest cityy or his captiaol.
Why bother with
