Has anyone got any recommendations for running diablo 2 on a 500mhz g4 with 128 ram - is it that I need more physical ram. I've tried all sorts including running the game using about 270 virtual memory.
I read a post which says to run in software mode and you have no problems - which seems a wee bit bizzare.
Thanks
Paul

Get more memory. Having 196 MB in my machine just wasn't enough to run it smoothly, so I upgraded to 288 MB. I would suggest at least 256 MB, and copying everything you can from the CDs to your hard drive to speed things up.

Paul,
If you only have 128 megs ram, then that is surely what the bottleneck is. I used to have 160 megs and just upgraded to 256 megs ram. Helped a lot. Most people seem to think that a good 100-150 megs physical ram or more allocated with Virtual memory off seems to speed things up dramatically.
Hope this helps,
Hans

Runs great for me on a dual G4/450 with 128MB RAM... averages about 60 FPS.
What is your video vard? If it's the stock Rage 128 Pro, that is the bottleneck. I have a Radeon here, so I'm not complainin'
And I guess more RAM never hurt anybody.

What do you mean by running poorly?
My cube, which had 64 Mb ram up until Christmas, and a 128 Pro until November, ran D2 acceptably, but there was noticeable stutter at the beginning (first 3 min of playing) due to the game using VM.
Does this sound like your problem?
