I've been following Coldstone for a bit, as I recently joined a Mac RPG team as a story dewd. It's fun throwing ideas at the walls and seeing what comes back. Heck, might as well throw a few bad ideas at you and see what people cook up.

Marathon: As an RPG, this would have to be a severely different setting from the FPS. I don't know how the M? story ends, which would help. Maybe our hero dewd arrives back at Earth to find that, despite his best efforts, the Phfor have landed and laid waste to Earth. Of course, something else is wrong as well, and you have to figure out a bunch of stuff and sabotage other stuff and kill lots of Bobs in order to win the game....er something.

Wallace and Gromit: No idea about gameplay, but since they're already cartoony, developing the look would be fairly easy. If you had a mind for gadgets, this could be fertile ground.

Of course, moving forward on either of these would require licensing crap, which I know Bo about.

Any other ideas out there that wouldn't work? You can actually list good ideas, if you like. Just might be hard to keep your hands on them, is all.. [shrug]

Everything I've seen so far has been fantasy. What about a sci-fi starcraft like RPG?

yeah, there should definitely be some sci-fi rpgs made. i'm sure someone will make a starwars game. but it'd be cool to come up with new ideas. sure takes a lot of imagination and work. come on, i know there are more people here who'd like their name stamped on a game.

Sci-Fi is good. They should have a story similar to fallout but with hazrdious barrels of waste. it should be called Imuneization. Another good one would be some person working in a corrupted peace orgnization called Navigators because they had to navagate among the stars and forcefully keep the peace on different planets. Like my ideas? drop me a line at andypolack@excite.com . Sorry for spelling but the check didn't work!

Omicron
Omicron Conspiracy
visions Of aftermath the boomtown
2400ad
alien logic
xiphos
sundog
star saga I + II
planet's edge
hired guns
hard nova
xcom I, II and III
sentinel worlds I
star control 1 and 2

Apace Rogue
Albion
Autoduel
Colony
Megatraveller I and II
Planets Edge
Protostar
star command
Ultima World of Adventures:Martian Dreams

All the Might and Magic games
Deus Ex
Fallout I and II
System Shock I and II
Phantasy Star games
Some of the Final Fantasy Games
Xenogears

About half of those are really old... like atari st, apple iie, and c64 games... some are recent and some are future titles. There's at least two other's I can picture but I can't think of the name for them.

Can anyone thing of any others?

So, you want a sic-fi RPG do you? Lucky for you, that's exactly what I intend on developing with Coldstone.

Some of you who post on the Ambrosia boards may know me as the Necromicon, I'm a beta tester for Coldstone and I have a team of four developers behind me, as well as a proffessional artist whose contract we are securing at the moment. I read the comments posted along side the Coldstone preview, and all I can say is this game will be commercial level. The graphics will be par with Fallout 2, and the predicted gameplay time is around 70 hours, if you complete all the side objectives as well. We also expect to be in development for at least a year, so you won't get some half-arsed game knocked together by a few mates.

I'll post an url to my website, I'm apologise for the poor deisgn, but I'm, very pushed for time as not only am I working on pre-production stuff for the game, I also have exams to cope with. Expect a better site with in the month, hopefully with some concept art and possibly some screenshots. At the moment all it contains is a bad title image and the teaser, but these should all be worked out soon. Here's the site.

Shadowrun was set in a pseudo-sci-fi setting, a future Seattle. A great P&P RPG, and was damn fine on the SNES too.

What I'd like to see is a current-era RPG. Sort of like Earthbound, maybe a bit less cartoonish though..something from modern times, maybe set in a city like Frisco or London..
