I have a PC, and am waiting for my new mac to arrive, but now i'm wondering if the PC files will work on the mac ? After installing RtCW on my PC I noticed (like all other id games) The game uses .pak files which are pc/mac compatible. Would these files work on the mac using the MP Test executible ? Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks,
Anim8r

At one point somebody had this plugin for Quake II that enabled you to play the mission packs. You simply had to own the PC CDs.

I wish they would do the same thing for Half Life.

Same question here: Can the mac RtCW app be used with the PC data files? Anyone?

I'm sure you can do it, but what you need is a Point Release (like Quake 3 has). The point release actually creates the application file with the absence of the main game files found on the install CD. Since no point realease exists yet, it cannot be done. However, it uses the same engine as Quake 3, so when point releases do come out, they should work.

I'm not sure i understand what you are saying. I just downloaded the PC single player demo which has a .pk3 file just like the OS X MP demo.

Are you saying the final shipping PC version has the data and app in one file?

Can i just point the Mac app to at least make the SP demo function? (Sorry. I'm at work so i can't try it.)
