All this "remember the IP" BS has to go. We need something simple that all of the developers can use for FREE (or a small price). What do you think?

Do you mean something along the lines of GameRanger? Or is MSN Game Zone completely different?

Not really sure what you're talking about remembering IP addresses and MSN Game Zone. I don't go to Microsoft for much except MS-Office and Internet Explorer stuff and I don't remember IP addresses when I game online. Of course my gaming online has been limited to Unreal, Unreal Tournament, and now Castle Wolfenstein. I just pick a server from the list of servers or favourite servers (I usually keep a dozen or so favourite servers).

I have Gameranger, it's interesting, I use it sometimes.

What's MSN Game Zone?

Well, the only online games I play are Diablo II and StarCraft, and fortunately battle.net (offered by Blizzard Entertainment) supports all platforms. For any other game, I'm quite sure tht GameRAnger supports them all. Or does it?

The problem with GameRanger is that it's INFINITESIMALLY SMALL! There are never, ever more than 10 simultneous AOE2 games, for example.

Compare that number to the sometimes-over-1000 available at the MSN gaming zone, and one begins to see why we feel cheated.

On the bright side, Battle.net works quite well and UT's built-in Internet play is a charm.
Be happy.

But isn't MSGZ windows only? I thought that was the point for M$. So unless they tap into that apple making one also will only splinter the already small Gameranger populace. Unless you have some brilliant plan to get more mac gamers or more of them online.

Well we've got to remember that some of that is because there are just a ton more Windows users out there! We are *never* going to have 1000 AOE2 games simultaneously because there just aren't enough of us around. But don't worry, when the OSX version of gameranger comes out that number will be at least 11.

As long as I kind find SOMEBODY to play with that has a reasonable ping (<200ms) I'm happy.
