They must be available now because some people have reported on their success in using the card in OS X. See:

The RADEON 7000 is a nice upgrade card. I think it's the best upgrade path for any machine that can take it.

Does anybody that has one of these wonderful cards have any comments about the drivers? ATi can produce wonderful cards. That's a given. However, their drivers haven't been up to par in recent years.

Yeah, I want one to replace the Voodoo3 powering my second monitor. I've been looking for it, but even the ATI store doesn't have it at the moment.

Nope. It's a lot faster than the old Mac RADEON upgrade PCI card.

I got the Radeon 7000 a few days ago... I ordered it from MacMall.com - and it came the next day.

Works well under OS X... will play DVD's. I haven't tried a second display on it or the Svideo out. I already ahve 2 displays... but the other monitor (21") is running off a GeForce 3.

The Radeon was mostly to replace an old Rage Pro card I had driving my 19" monitor.

I think the original Radeon is faster than the 7000. The 7000's 3d graphics are somewhat crippled.

What kind of Mac do you have the 7000 card in?

I only ask because the comments on the xlr8 site that I listed above all have found that they cannot use the card in OS X. It seems to me that the biggest market for a PCI card is going to be people with beige G3's running OS X (and maybe some 7000,8000 and 9000 machines) because Apple will not support the video cards in them in OS X. So, not only are they buying a fast card but also, presumably, ATI's support to make the card run in OS X.

Very strange that they released the card without making it run well in these machines!?

I just got the 7000 from macmall too. It's a nice card for just over $100. Great for a second monitor at least.

It has worked fine so far in my G4 400/10.1.2.

I'm not sure if it's better than the GeForce2MX. The GeForce2MX can keep up with a Radeon fairly well, but a Radeon 7000 is a 'crippled' Radeon. It's missing the TCL hardware feature and I think only has 1 TMU, so that severly limits its 3D horsepower compared to the original Radeon and the GeForce2MX.
