Performance of Diablo II 1.06 under OS X.0.2
Full install of the game
(lower number under multi monster attack)
Rave: 4-25 frames ("unplayable", even with lowest settings)
OpenGL: 2-24 frames ("unplayable", even with lowest settings)
surprisingly:
Software Rendering steady 24 frames ! all options on "best"
l
My system Radeon , G4/667, 256M RAM

Classic still has no direct access to hardware (i.e. the video card)...
*Sigh*
Framerate comparison (dual 450/Radeon):
In OS 9:
Rave = 71 FPS
OpenGL = 57 FPS
Software = 45 FPS
In Classic:
Rave = 20 FPS
OpenGL = 17 FPS
Software = 46 FPS
So, although Classic has no direct access to the Radeon, it maintains the same speed as OS 9 when rendering via the CPU...
Interesting.
Anyway, I'm just hopin' for a Carbon version -- the pains of D2 in Classic is one of the primary reasons I still use 9.0.4 the majority of the time (never liked 9.1, too buggy).

Mac Freak, what program are you using to get the fps in Diablo? I have your system save the Radeon, and I would like to do a comparison.
