It took me 8 tries and over 2 hours of waiting in line at fileplanet and downloading, but I finally got Bid for Power. I'm that big of a DBZ fan but hey, this mod is very cool. When I installed it, switched over to the Mod, everything was working great. That is until I tried to create or join an actual game.

Many Mac users have recieved the same error message, which is something about a VM Quake 3 compile error, and the BFP staff claimed it would work under the Mac OS. How many people on this forum have the same problem, and for that matter, how many people actually got the mod to work? Maybe with a little team effort we can get the creators to pump out a patch or something.

I too have had the same problem...and on a blazing 56k modem it only took me 12 hours to download it. Bid For Power's web site is down for the moment, but there were a slew of Mac users with the problem too. Basically the solution was to edit your default.cfg (which I don't have or can seem to find...can anyone post their's?) and change the Vm settings to 1 or 10.

Editing it to....
vm_cgame "1"
vm_game "1"
vm_ui "1"

if anyone can successfully edit their cfg file would they mind posting it somewhere for all Mac users to use?

At least there is a solution. I'll get a'crackin' on the config file and tell you what I see. If somebody has the solution all figured out, post it here, PLEASE!

Apparently you can do this by also going to the console (by pressing tilde) and typing....

set vm_cgame 1
set vm_game 1
set vm_ui 1

However the game still crashes with the same error

I went in manually on the q3config.cfg and changed them, but nothing happened either. If anybody knows how to fix this, HELP!

Ahh, i finally found the file I was looking for....

/username/library/application support/quake 3/base3/q3config.cfg

the VM settings are at the very bottom. (Don't forget to make a duplicate first incase something goes wrong)

Yeah, I tried it, but it still didn't work. Did it work for you? If it does, what version of the Quake 3 point release are you using?

Ok. I've attempted to set this thing over eight times, and I'm not done yet. The more people we have working on this the faster we can fix this bug.

Has anybody got Bid for Power to work?

You wouldn't believe how easy it is to make the game work....

1) Load Quake 3
2) Load the Bid For Power Mod
3) Open the console and /set vm_cgame 1
4) Start a new game
5) Select your desired map
Then....the most important thing....
6) Turn Pure Server OFF!

Simple, and it works like you wouldn't believe. What an amazing Mod! It's identical to Dragonball Z! You'll love it!

I just got on the forum to post that! It is cool that it works now, but that means we can't connect to pure servers, which is almost [if not all] the servers out there. Damn. Oh well I'm sure they will post a fix along with the next release. Thanks.
