It appears Blizzard has fixed the lag on BattleNet that caused D2 to be near unplayable. Now if we can just get rid of all the dupping idiots out there

Duping itself was fixed...
but the dupes themselves still exist.

I'm betting on either a rollback, a new patch that eliminates dupes (like 1.05 did), or a total realm wipe (i.e. everything gets deleted, everyone restarts from scratch).

Frankly, I'd prefer the latter -- I've gotten to the point where I HAVE everything I want, and needing to restart would rekindle my interest in the game.
Be happy.

You have everything you want? Boy, you're not picky. I'd never be able to get everything I want.

According to the official report, the lag was directly caused by the massive duping efforts... (not really surprising I suppose)

Concerning the duped items themselves, I'm hoping they manage to filter them out without the need of a rollback or realm-reset. (I'm one of those who dances around in joy when he finds something even remotely valuble...I think my "best" item is "Goldskin...", so I would prefer to be able to hold on to it. :/ )

Well, you don't know what I have

Anyway, www.diabloii.net is surveying what people think the best solution to our problem is...
Go ahead and vote!

I voted for a split realm... offering to those who choose it a completely new, fresh realm with a nice clean economy, while maintaining the current dupe-ridden realms for those who prefer 'em.

If the split-realm IS the solution, it'd definetely get me to fire up LoD and play for a while
Be happy.

Does anyone here know if it's possible to make backups of your closed Bnet characters?

(ie, copy them for use in *single* or *open* bnet games)

No. You can't do that, unless you're uber good at.... ::coughs:: hacking. You can't move characters over. It's been tried.

There was some idiot last night, that was trading a sword (lower than SS) and he wanted 100 sojs for it... and he was serious. Not joking. His reason was that it was 100% legit. Whatever. Nothing is worth 100 sojs.

I think battle.net should kick off idiots. They bug me. And annoying newbs (non-annoying newbs are cool).

Just when I was feeling the urge to get back into D2 again I find that all is not well. It would be a sad day if Hacks brought it down for everyone else. I got addicted when I was testing it with our latest video cards at my last company. I remember the days when all I did at work all day was play D2. I was bought LOD as soon as it came out. Hadn't played as of late becuase of lag for one and because of my tight schedule.

I genuinely hope nothing is seriously wrong.

Well all was well last night when I got home I played a bit on each of my characters to make sure nothing was wrong with them. I didn't have a single problem. I played a little sacrifice too. I just got the game and was going throug the tutorials. It was more dificult than I thought it would be.

Blizzard's still trying to put an end to some dupers out there, so there will be occasional stops and starts when you play within the next month or so. Hopefully by March, the popular dupe methods (the ones everyone knows how to do) will be eliminated so we can play normally again.

Bad news though, this could mean an extreme delay in the OS X port for Diablo II.
