I tried searching the forum...no luck, so sorry if this question has been talked too much about.

What is up with Halo?
Is it coming? Does it exist?
Is Microsoft going to let Halo disappear?

Thank you for any input

It will probably come out for the Xbox this holiday season. It may or may not come out for Mac, probably at least several months later (mid 2002).

It will depart at 20 minutes to 5.

Yet again MS has killed a pure inguness idea. halo was going to be a revoultionary game with synced car driving, underwater, and first person shooter. but now MS has made it into a simple FPS and stoll the life from halo. ANd they have pushed the relaes back of the X box so it will be anoth bunch of months when it come uot for the mac, DAmn then Damn them all to Hell bastards.

I wouldn't be too quick to execute M$ on this one. Bungie continues to stand by their commitment to bringing games to the Mac platform. Anyone reading the letters to the Bungie webmaster would see that M$ isn't holding a knife to Bungie's throat. One game can't do/be everything. It's Bungie that's deciding what direction they're taking the gameplay. Read the weekly Halo updates at IMG or MGL and take heart. There's still reason for hope.

Bungie is making the choices, perhaps, but all the choices are being made with the Xbox as the primary target. You can't blame them for it, but it does mean that Halo is going to be a worse game for the Mac when it comes out.

On the other hand, they now have more funding and maybe that will offset things. It's hard to make any conclusions until we see the final product. And again, while the release has probably been delayed because of this Xbox stuff, M$ is also probably forcing Bungie to keep to the Xbox release schedule. Which is a good thing, if you think about Oni.

Not necessarily; one thing Bungie always stuck to, before they were bought out by Microsoft, was the principle that the product should meet a certain standard before being released. If the "rush to market" attitude infects Bungie, we might well see lower quality products. Which wouldn't be a good thing...

I'm not going on another Bungie rant, but the fact that it was looking nigh on finished last Autumn, why are we still waiting?
The same thing happened to Oni, it looked very good and promising, then once you've played the final release, it's way too easy and too much like a kiddy game.
You've got to ask - is Bungie being made to make the games easier?

They say they're not, or being controlled by MSoft, but from the sporadic releases, and the serious dodginess of Oni, you can't help but think that Bungie have gone to the dogs. Will Halo be as bad as Oni? or will it be worse? or will it be just another Quake-a-like?

With ONI, Bungie's games did go from 'adult' to 'childish'. The lack of blood when you shot someone 5 times was rediculous. Especially when I went back to play myth. Sure the flashes are pretty, but the blood was more realistic. And more visually stimulating.

Halo had better not follow that route or I will be upset. (not that that is of *any* consequence to either Bungie or M$).
