I have a powerbook with a DVD drive. I don't want to be constantly switching CDs while I'm playing the game. I had the CD-Rom version on riven and it really bugged me. This is one of the reasons I bought a DVD drive for my desktop.

Does anyone know if there's a DVD version in the works? Does anyone know if Myst 3 will work from the HD somehow? I can mount disk images...

If you do a full install (~2 GB) you can run the game from just the first CD. Or use a disk image. I agree, it's pretty dumb that they don't have a DVD version; they say it will come out by the holidays but there's no reason why it shouldn't be out now.

YES. They are coming out with a DVD version later this year.
Also, read the instructions and installer, it will let you install all the CD's on your Hard Drive.
