Hi

Anyone experiencing this?

I played RTCW on my Cube/Radeon/OS 9 for a few hours, when all of the sudden the display became a checkerboard of red and black, and the mouse cursor appeared as a 128 x 128 (mostly) white box.

I restarted the mac, the patterns and colors changed, but remained even in the Finder. I used the keyboard to shut down gracefully, then left it to cool down, as I thought I'd overheated the system. I was reminded of systems with broken display cards, where you might get all kinds of artifacts on the screen.

After a few hours (or perhaps just because of the shutdown) all was well.

Until I launched RTCW again. It worked until I joined a game and the game attempted to draw some geometry on my screen - boom, patterns return and remain even after restart.

Now in OS X, with the same copy of the app, no problem. I'm primarily playing in OS X, so all is well, except for the nagging doubt:

Did I overheat the system?
Then why did the problem re-appear on a cool system in RTCW in OS 9?

Did I mess up the Radeon?
Then why does it work in OS X?

Did I mess up OS 9 OpenGL?
So why do all other games work well in OS 9?

Did I mess up RTCW configs?
So why does it work in OS X?

Probably nothing serious, but puzzling...

I've had that after playing the MPTest2 in OS X for a LONG time on my iBook, After a restart it worked fine. Perhap you should trash any prefs in the OS 9 system folder for RTCW. That'd be my only guess.
