Okay,

I've been frustrated about the lack of games for the Mac, so I'm thinking of getting the Connectix VP. My questions are:

1) Does anyone else have it & if so how is it?

2) What kind of expansion card (ps port(s)?) or game controller do you recommend getting to go with it?

Thanks

1. i have it....its alright...it plays some games well, some games ok, and some games not at all
check connectix's site for the game compatibility list before buying it

2. if you have a usb mac, then get the gravis gamepad pro usb (its pretty similar to the original playstation controller-before dual shock)

also virtual gamestation requires an original g3 or g4 and an ati video card, so make sure you have those (though there are ways to get around these requirements...i can run it with my voodoo 3)

don't get the gravis - the controller cable on mine got screwed up and they have a crappy support department - I have an iShock controller and it's far better

I'd disagree. I have both the iShock and Gravis Gamepad and while the iShock has more buttons, they are mushy and do not offer nearly the feel that the better-quality Gravis controller does.

If you like Playstation-style games go for it. Only thing you might be disappointed with is the graphic quality. CVGS does not offer 3D hardware acceleration like the Wintel Bleem emulator does and is destined to be limited by the NTSC TV-expected audience

Just my $.02.

I'm not gonna be a huge help here because I can't remember the name or URL of where I saw this product... but there is a device which you can plug a real playstation controller into which then plugs into a usb port. It doesn't support analogue controllers yet but neither does CVP.

Might be a good alternative to iShock or Gravis Gamepad.

I think someone linked to it from a past post so do a quick search.

I also have CVGS and I have one small problem: how can I prevent that constant CD spin down? That's really annoying, especially when you're in the middle of a game...
