Well looks like I had to figure the answer out myself... US East is screwed, so there... can do US West...

Is this after the 1.08b patch? I haven't had any problems w/ the patch so far. Wish I could help some more.

YES!!! I knew something was whacked. I got the exact same error and tried to fix it in the same exact way! No go. Emailed support@blizzard.com. Left out the key piece about US East, though. I'll send another... Thanks, I'm not (too) crazy...

Same here, all the other options work but East does not. I also notice that no matter what race I play, it ends up on the Zerg Ending Screen, but I do like the "Save Replay" option. I hope all this gets fixed soon!!

I think that is possibly why blizzard may have added the option for the different selection on what gate you wanted to use: meaning U.S. West/East or other. So that this way if you were having problems connecting to bnet it you could try another server <shrug>. Yeah I've noticed that whole Zerg ending thing and I'm kind of disappointed about it. The only part from the new patch I really enjoy is the bit about saving games to watch later. btw does anyone know how you can allow others to connect and watch it too? it says at the blizzard homepage there is a way how, but they don't share that secret.

Here is an e-mail reply from blizzard about this problem...

-------
"We are currently looking into the problems between USEast and the version
1.08b update to Starcraft and Brood War.

At the current time we recommend that you delete the Starcraft preferences
file and connect to USWest or any Battle.net gateway other than USEast."
-------

Evidently the PC version 1.08b works. My brother has it and can connect to US-East. The MAC version of 1.08b is not downloadable via Blizard's Web Site, so there is still a few bugs evidently.

I'll also add, that when I've finished a game, I always get the Zerg Ending Screen regardless of what race I play. It kinda stinks because I never play as Zerg.
