Hi im considering get a new imac. mainly the imac dv se 500. IM 13 yrs old. Of course i want to know what kinda gaming it can do. Like how would the frame rates be at average, max for Ut, q3, diablo 2? I currently use a imac 233 96 rm. i have maxed out in ut in the city intro with everything low and a small resolution at 35 fps.

If you want to just game, get a PC. I build gaming PC machines. They own.

But, if having a Mac is important, the iMac is sweet. Then again, the Power Mac with RADEON kicks its tail end.

Email me if you want to get a PC for gaming. That's what I did. I have an awesome PowerBook for work (because that's the only thing that can get any done ) and a serious gaming PC.

The iMac does about 50 frames per second at 640 by 480, I reckon.

Well for casual gaming the new crop of iMacs with the Rage128Pro are great, the only thing that you could really whine about is UT in 32 bits where yan can expect to see lowest fps ard 10/12 in very busy maps. But it is OK in 16 bits. PC are faster for gaming and more games are available, but almost all the major ones are on the mac now and future releases should be no worse than a couple a month delays.

Personnaly I wouldn't trade my iMac SE 500 for a PC, maybe only for a cube with Radeon when they will be around $1,500 (where they should have always been).

You can't beat the overall ease of use of the mac though.

Godd luck.
