This evening at Aspyr World in Austin, Texas, Mac game publisher Aspyr Media announced three new titles that the company will bring to the Mac in 2001: EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 2001, Eidos Interactive's Tomb Raider: Chronicles and LucasArts Entertainment's Escape from Monkey Island.

Was Aspyr World an invitation-only event? I sent email to Aspyr a month ago asking about it, but they never replied (bastards!) I live in Austin, TX, and I would have liked to attend.

It was a press-only event. If you run over to Stubbs BBQ right now you can probably still run into them.

Great to hear LucasArts is porting the latest Monkey Island game. Considering the first two Monkey Island games, arguably the most popular adventure games ever were released on the mac one would have assumed that the third would have been released as well... Oh well! I'll be first in line to buy the fourth!

Did anyone at Aspyr mention whether the Level Editor will make it into the mac version of Tomb Raider: Chronicles?

Hey guys, just woke up this morning.... When Aspyr throws a party, they do it right.

My initial comments from the presentation of the games that they announced last night, and showed us pictures of:

NFS: Porsche Unlimited - sweet graphics is about all I can say. The Boxter looks great, but the Carrera looks even better....

Madden - cool, too cool.

Tiger Woods 2001 - Oh my God... talk about graphics, and super good looks - this game looks like your on the course, with Tiger and the rest and it looks so good, you can smell the wet grass and the sand as your palyer climbs into the sand trap to retreive a ball.... AWESOME graphics...

ST: Elite Force - gameplay is good... really good, but since I totally suck at first person shooters, I'm not the guy to comment on this title.... Let's just say that it looks good, and plays well (And that I die really quick on the easy level....)

The Sims Livin' Large - Looks awesome... this will be the first title I buy for my self (I mean my wife) this Christmas...

Sim Theme Park - Looks like a lot of fun... the graphics are awsome... the kids running around trying to find a bathroom, the workers fixing things... the rides exploding... and all the while, you're in charge.... looks awesome....

and finally: Lucas's Monkey Island IV: Wow... talk about big... finally we get some of Lucas's great games back... there were a few years that I remember thinking the Lucas might go out of business, but they did a good job with their German and other European translations, whic is probably what kept them going, and today, thanks to Aspyr, we Mac users will get the chance to play them again.

Aspyr did a really great job with this weekend, and I'm definitely looking forward to a lot more great stuff from them. They gave away a Porsche too... but I didn't win it... so I'll drive my Pinto back home this morning.....

I'll try to answer questions that you might post here tonight when I get back to the house... so check this thread in the morning....

John

great, great, great! I bought VPC just so I could play monkey island 3. monkey island 1 and 2 basically were *the* games of my childhood (and the two indiana jones games). I never thought I'd live to experience another native monkey island game on my mac...

Monkey Island 4!!! Yes yes yes yes!!!

Guys, I'm so excited that I could almost explode. I've wanted to play a new Monkey Island game on my Mac for several years, and obviously MI3 was a disappointment. I'll be getting MI4 no doubt about it!

Thank you Aspyr!!! You're quickly making a life-long fan of me since I already own The Sims, and I'm planning on getting Deus Ex and The Sims expansion pack. Hmmmm... is someone trying to replace the hole Bungie left?

Cipher13: The Monkey Island is a adventure series with some wicked humor, something LucasArts is very good at (like Day of the tentacle, or Sam & Max).
