ok here is my question:

Riven comes with 5 CD's. Now, is there a way i can "rip" all the CD's to my Hard drive and tell the computer to look on the hard drive and not for the cd?

i have a Indigo ibook and i don't really want to carry around 5 cd's. Im sure you understand.

(and yes i am aware that riven comes on a dvd, but hey guess what....i was cheap and didn't pay for the dvd (with i did now)

so can this be done?

Use Disk Copy or ShrinkWrap or something to image the disks to your HD then mount them when you want them...
Please search the forum before posting...
There have been lots of discussions on this.

Be aware, though, that copying five 650 MB CD's to your hard drive is 3.25 GB worth of disk images. Ouch... especially on an iBook...

Yeah, now that I have the space to spare, I'm not interested anymore. Switching CDs bites.

I tried disk copying my Riven CD's and mounting them, but in game when Riven asks for a CD, it never finds it...I wanted to do the exact same thing you did...I hate CDs...thats why I disk copy all of mine so that I dont ever have to wait for the damn things to spin up or anything. ANyway, Riven and The Sims are the only ones so far that don't recognize a disk image...
