What're we teaching our kids these days -- that Vikings historically had spiky helmets and liked to smash things? Sheesh. ;-) This is like talking about the historical Pokemon societies.

This game revolves around Viking MYTH, not history. Not that it really matters to anyone. Dark Vikings are made up by the developers, same with a lot of this Odin stuff.

Should make for a damn cool game though!

It is a good game. I started it up, started playing single player, a lot of glitches, felt more like a beta than a demo, but was a fun experience, and started a multiplayer server, people joined, killed me till I got the hang of it. But it was a ton of fun. Planting that axe in someone and watching them die in front of you is very statisfying, much more so than even unreal or quake which seems... less personal. =) I very much enjoyed rune. It had a few problems though...

- If it was based on UT, why does it run so much laggier on my machine? I have a G4/400 with 224 megs of ram, I would have expected better frame rates seeing as I get about 50 in unreal tourney.

- Single player game had aforementioned glitches. I got stuck in a sewer and had to restart because the chain went through the floor and I couldn't get out.

- Multiplayer is laggy, has performance issues. I found people I played against had little chance when I was the server, as they got 300 pings where in UT they'd get 110 or so. Also, it quit after a while, which was mildly frustrating.

All in all, a great game. If they solve these issues before it goes GM, I will purchase this game for sure!!
