I recently installed the Unreal Tournament demo on my PM7500 with a 300mhz/512k G3 daughtercard, 128MB of RAM, Mac OS 9, and an ATI Rage Orion graphic card. It plays but very poorly...its just barely managable with all settings at LOW or NONE, giving crap-ass quality graphics and barely any sound - is there anything I can do to make it playable??

A Voodoo card will play UT better than the Orion. You can pick up a Voodoo2 for $50 or less, a Voodoo3 for around $100 or less or a Voodoo5 for $300. Also some more RAM wouldn't hurt. Ultimately, though, your processor and bus speeds are going to hurt the overall performance of UT on your Mac.

Strange... I'm running on my old 7500 upgraded to a G3 275 mhz 120 Mb and a Voodoo 3. With all settings on Medium, no Music at 640x480 and I get a great game, OK the frame rate could be higher when there is a lot of stuff going on but I doubt that the Orion is the bottleneck if You just stay at a 640x480 resolution.
(now waitin' for delivery of my G4 500MP w. Radeon.. :-D )

Yeah, probably the single best thing to improve performance is get a new graphics card. I give a hearty "Amen!" to the voodoo3. Regardless of 3dfx going belly up, I would still buy it. The voodoo3 works really well with UT, and I don't think you will need any driver upgrades. Besides, it's only $100 and that figure will probably drop.
