Does it work? I can't get it to work, UT says it can't find a specific file or folder and TO says it can't find 'TOUT' and then it quits.. Networking in OS 9 works, but only for UT.

Is it possible to play network in OS X?

I have separate network settings for UT network play on both machines since I typically don't play online at home (56k can't cut it), so my solution may be worthless to you if your network also needs to online

So you need specific network setting for UT to work? I don't play online since I only have a modem connection.. I use manual TCP/IP setting with individual ip settings and a subnet mask.. I really want it to work.

Each machine needs unique settings... I suspect they can be arbitrary, but some people suggest a specific set of numbers. The settings I use:

IP: 192.168.0.2 thru 192.168.0.254
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
router: 192.168.0.1

I also activate appletalk and node (2) and network (1) numbers, but those shouldn't really matter for X. Hope this works for you!

by the way, are you networking your machines via ethernet or modem? You may know this already, but if connecting via ethernet on older machines (not sure how much older... I think B&W G3 and earlier) you'll need an ethernet crossover cable to connect the machines directly, unless at least one of your machines is a newer model with etherner auto-detection, in which case you can use a crossover cable or not. Good luck! let me know how it works.
