I wanted to buy a game for my new imac, I was wondering what was the best RTS game out there. Is there anything like age of empires two (but not being aoe1)?

Sorry but there is ZERO main stream games out so far. (okay, there is like 2, but not RTS) Starcraft is indeed the best. It will run well under classic if you wish, but if you have a multibutton mouse it will be useless. ie, it thinks that you only have a single click.
Starcraft homepage
enjoy!

Myth is a great game. It's more of a real-time-tactics game, in that you only battle, not resource-managing or building stuff.
Right now you can buy Myth Total Codex for $20, which includes Myth 1 and Myth 2, and other extras. Great deal.
Heartily recommend it! Check it out.

Do you like resource management (i.e. building farms/barracks/treehouses and harvesting food/gold/liquor), or are you more into pure military combat?
For the former, Total Annihilation is the only way to go. Great engine, and just plain more fun than StarCraft.
For the latter, Myth 2 is awesome (buy the Total Codex for $20). Plus, there's a ton of active players on bungie.net. As a tactical simulation, it beats most everything out there. Single player and multiplayer are both rewarding.
Cheers.

I love Starcraft. It works fine under Classic is OS X. Age of Empires II should be comin to Mac next month and will be OS 9 and OS X compatible. The first Age of Empires is really bad. I really look forward to Warcraft III. It looks great and will also be for OS X and OS 9. Too bad the release date has been pushed back.

I am not sure what you are looking for.
I like multiplayer myth and the old warcraft and variations on these--of course it requires 2 copies of myth )not warcraft.
Majesty is an interesting game--if you can stand not being able to control people.
By the way---All copies of Myth are out of stock everywhere. I have purchased several over the last month and all the suppliers have called back and said they were recrediting my account. Don't try eBay cause I am.
