I want to create a menu for a webpage in a side frame. Basically, what I want is something similar to Microsoft's home page where users would be able to mouseover the main links and have a submenu pop out to the side. It doesn't necessarily have to be a mouseover. The users could click on the links to pop up the submenu. I don't, however, want to make my page like Microsoft's site and only support Windows Internet Explorer for the menus.
What would I be looking out to do this kind of job? Javascript? XML? Oh yeah. Flash is not an option for this particular job because I don't want to require flash for the website. If you guys could point me to examples, tutorials, or anything I'd greatly appreciate that.
Thanks in advance.

Try http://www.dynamicdrive.com/. They have a whole bunch of menu systems/scripts that you can try out. I didn't check the specifics of what browsers are supported. I guess you can cover that Hope this helps.

it's all about JavaScript and hiding/showing DIV's.
Try also http://www.webreference.com/dhtml/ for the most complete and insane DIV menu out there. It's also very slow and you have to license their code.
Dang, I had a URL for a decent one, but can't find it here...
Try just doing a google search on "DIV menus" or something similar. it can get pretty hairy in there with all the DIV's and JavaScripts to show and hide them, so good luck!
EDIT: Webrefernce has the one I was thinking of, lesson 4.1.3 I think...
