houdy all, (no I am NOT from the country)

I am interested in making a stupid fun little web page and probably hosting it either from iDisk or my school. I have played around with Netscape composer, but find that its' hard to do anyting cool with. Not much control.

So, I am looking for advice on how to do it, and what kinds of applications that I will need to do it.

thanks!

The two top WYSIWYG apps are Adobe Golive and Macromedia Dreamweaver.

If you want to do hand coding, BBedit is a good text editor.

I have found that I have the most control with Dreamweaver, but Golive is probably a little easier to learn.

I also like Dreamweaver's use of Templates. (not sure if Golive can do this)

If you're think you'll be doing a lot of web development in the future, you really should learn HTML. I recommend the book HTML 4 for Dummies. This is the book I used to learn HTML.

If you develop then you'll probably feel that the Dummies series is a little too much fluff. You might want to look at the oriely series. They're very good. Also, with a little help in the beginning, I'd do what you do now - learn from other people's code and check out w3c.org for documentation.
