I am brand new to web design and am trying to develop my own site. I registered a domain name and have a web hosting company. I bought a copy of Dreamwaever version 2 (I know its a little old) and tried to figure it out. I am totally confused. Can anyone point me in the direction of some help (good books, web sites etc...) Any help would be great. Thanks.

I found the best reference to learn how to use Dreamweaver was the included Help file. It sounds like you might be a newbie at HTML. I would recommend learning HTML but if you want to just get your feet wet then you might want to try Lynda.com You might want to pick up one of her books - I'm not sure if she has Dreamweaver 2 and I don't now how 2 is different from 3 or 4 so..

Have fun.

a pretty good free tutorial site for html.

and
[this may sound a little crazy but...]
there is an html cheat sheet at eBay to use when you are placing an ad,

it's really simple and straight forward but i think you have to actually start the process of posting an ad to get to that page. i guess you could check the site map.

there are a load of tutorials if you just search Google or About for tutorials.

i know webmonkey used to be cool but i haven't been there in ages.

Dreamweaver is a very powerful tool.
it can also be a little intimidating.
i don't even remember what the version 2 interface looks like but i know that version 4 would be perplexing to anyone new to html.

i've heard other people say that Golive and Front Page are simpler to get started with but Macromedia is outstanding in many ways.

anyway...

First, do not, under any circumstances, go near FrontPage! That's all I'm going to say.

Second, you can start using Dreamweaver without an understanding of HTML, but at least learning the basics will make you're life so much easier. I learned a lot with WebSavant. Check it out.

Third, Lynda Weinman's Dreamweaver 2.0 H.O.T. kicks ass. Check it out.

Good luck!
