I did not have any problems with them Yet. I also used <a href="http://www.online.net" target="_blank">Online</a> which was not bad, but I needed control over my DNS so I switched.

I recently joined up with <a href="http://www.22host.com" target="_blank">22host</a> which was highly recommended to me too. They are based in the UK so prices are in Sterling but their servers are based in Texas I think. The global nature that the Internet is I don't think this fact actually matters, and many users of 22host are global anyway. Excellent value for money, good friendly service just an email, IM or forum away. It's UNIX base (Linux, but what the hey) which is nice. All the usual stuff such as PHP, MySQL, CGI bins...
Come on by, it would be cool to have a few more OS X users <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Thanks, for the replies, I'm in Australia, but I don't think it really matters where you live when it comes to web hosting.
I will be using it for my business. The web page will be quite small at this stage.

You might want to consider freehostingweb.com. I have a site with them, and I've been pretty happy. The speed and reliability are good, and they offer plenty of features (POP/SMTP, CGI, etc.). The setup price of $50 includes domain registration or transfer. After that, the price is $35 a year for the domain renewal--no other hosting fees. It's the lowest I've seen.

I suppose I could post here instead of starting a new thread:

Webhosting

Under "Basic Hosting" there is name based and IP based. Could someone clairfy what this means? I was just browsing for someone to host a relatively simple family web site. This particular provider is someone that I could use under a special circumstance where price doesnt matter. I dont know what all the terms mean (cgi-bin, my SQL. . .). If someone could take a moment and give me a brief opinion I would be grateful.

Hey Ponami,

I did some research when I first started looking for someone to host my business website, and found Hostway (http://www.hostway.com) strongly recommended. They have won numerous awards, offer multiple hosting plans, and have been around for some time -- which is peace of mind as a web developer.

In hosting several sites for me and my clients, I have received the same exceptional service. If you haven't chosen one already, check out their site. Later!

As a web designer, I had to go through a scrutinizing search years ago, and ended up going with http://www.html.com/ - o.k. the name still kind of wins me over at first glance, but I have had them host my 10+ websites for the duration of my business, and the service they offer is great. All the programming features I've ever read about are supported, multiple account levels, domain registry, etc. Out of the 100,000 other competitors you have to sift through, they even have a great website!
